KALACHANA GRAVY OR KALACHANA CURRY

Kalachana Gravy is one of the easiest gravy with out adding onions and tomatoes. I tried this recipe from ManjulasKitchen.com and it came out tasty.One of the best sidedish for chapatti and Appam
Ingredients Cooking Time : 45 Mins
Kala chana – 1 cup
Coriander powder – 2 teaspoon
Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Redchilli powder – 1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon
Grated Ginger – 1 teaspoon
Green chilli – 2 to 3
Oil – 3 teaspoon
Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
Hing – a pinch
Besan flour – 2 teaspoon
Salt – to taste
Water – 2 to 3 teaspoon
Lemon juice –1 teaspoon
coriander leaves




Method
Step :1
Soak the kala chana over night or minimum 5 to 6 hour.Take a bowl put coriander powder,turmeric powder,chilli powder,grated ginger,greenchilli.Mix all together with enough water and make a paste.

Step 2:
Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds when it started crackling add hing and besan flour and fry it for a minute then add the paste that we prepared and fry it for a minute then add the soaked kalachana with enough water.Add salt and cook it for 6 to 7 whistles.

Step 3:
After the pressure from the cooker is completely reduce open it.Add a teaspoon of lemonjuice and add chopped coriander leaves.

Kalachana gravy is now ready to serve.

IDLI PODI


 
Recipe Highlights
Idly podi is the one of the side dish for Idli /Dosa .We can make this idly powder with Podi Dosa.
Ingredients Cooking Time : 30 Mins
Split black gram dal with skin / Black Urad dal – 1 1/2 cups
Coconut oil – 2 teaspoon
Curry leaves – 5 to 6 sprig
Red chilli – 8 nos
Hing – 1/4 teaspoon
Garlic – 6 nos.
Salt – as required

Method
Step :1
Heat the pan with one teaspoon of coconut oil and roast the urad dal in a medium flame till it gets golden brown.Transfer into the plate and let it cool down.

Step 2:

In the same pan add one teaspoon of coconut oil and roast the redchilli, hing, and curry leaves for a minute in a low flame. Tranfer into the plate and let them cool down.

Step 3:

Put all the roasted things into the mixer and add fresh peeled garlic and also add salt into it and make  a fine or coarse powder.

Idli powder /Idli podi by adding sesame oil in it and enjoy this with Idli or Dosa
