WHOLE MOONG DAL MASALA

Ingredients
Whole Moong dal – 2 cups
Oil – 3 teaspoon
Onion – 2
Tomato – 2 medium size
Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
Ginger garlic paste – 1 teaspoon
Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Chilli powder – 3/4 teaspoon
Garam masala – 1/4 teaspoon
Curry leaves – 1 sprig
Water – 2 cups
Salt – to taste
Method
Soak the whole moong dal for an hour. Cook it in a pressure cooker for 3 whistles.

Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds first,then add onion.saute it with little salt. Add ginger garlic paste and saute it till the raw smell goes off.

Put some curry leaves and add turmeric powder.sauté it well.

Add the chopped tomatoes and fry it well . Add chilli powder and fry it for a minute, then pour the water into it and cook them well.

Finally add the cooked whole moong dal and then put garam masala and Salt in to it  and mix it well. cook it in a low flame for 5 minutes.

Garnish it with chopped coriander leaves.

Whole moong dal masala is now ready to serve with chapatti.

SEPPANKILANGU (TARO ROOT) ROAST

                                                         Seppankilangu roast is a very good choice for weekend side dish.It is well going with sambar satham/curd rice.

Ingredients

  • Seppankilangu – 250 g
  • Oil – 2 to 3 tbsp
  • Chili powder – 3 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
  • Black pepper powder – 1 tsp
  • Salt as per taste
Preparation Method
1.Add all the seppankilagu into the boiling water.Allow it to boil till it is well cooked.

2.When it is well cooked,Remove the peel.Then cut the seppan kilangu in length wise as shown in the figure.

3.To this add 1 tbsp of oil to avoid stickiness.Then add chili powder,Turmeric powder,pepper powder and salt one by one.

4.Mix it well in a plate and keep it aside for 5 min.

5.Heat 2 tsp of oil in a tawa/Dosa pan.Then keep seppankilangu as  like shown in the figure.Keep it simmer.
6.Add 1 more tsp of oil if u want more crispiness.Check the pieces well roasted in both sides.

7.Now seppankilangu roast is ready to serve.
