HEALTH MIX POWDER / SATHU MAAVU

Homemade Health mix powder.This health mix powder is flavorful and healthy.
Ingredients Cooking Time : 30 Mins
Ragi – 250 gms
Whole wheat – 50 gm
Chanadal – 50 gm
Peanuts,cashewnuts -50gm
Whole green gram(Sirupayuru) –200 gm
Maize (Makka Cholam) –50 gm
Brown rice (Kaikuthal Arisi) - 100gm
Red rice(Sigappu Arisi) – 100 gm
Black Rice (Kavuni Arisi)– 100 gm
Sago( Javvarisi)– 50 gm
Kalachana – 50 gm
Foxtail Millet (Thinai) -100gm
Roasted gram dal(Porrikadalai) -50gm
Almonds - 30
Cardamom –Optional
Dry ginger(sukku) –2 inch

Method
Step :1
Clean all the ingredients.
Dry roast all the ingredients separately until you get a nice aroma.(Do not burn)
Do not dry roast the dry ginger.

Step 2:
Give it to the flour mill for grinding.After you get the powder store it in a airtight container.
You can use this powder for 3 to 4 months in a room temperature or keep it in the freezer for more than 6 months.

Valaipoo vadai/banana flower vadai

Recipe Highlights
Valaipoo vadai is more tasty and healthy too.
Ingredients Cooking Time : 20- 30 Mins
Banana flower/valaipoo- 1 no
Gram dal – 1 cup(100 g)
Onion (Big) - 1
Fennel seeds – 1 tsp
Garlic – 2
Ginger – 1 inch
Chili – 2 nos
Oil – To fry
Salt to taste


Method
Step :1
Clean the banana flower finely.

Step 2:

soak gram dal in a cup of water for 1 hour.

Step 3:

Now chop banana flower,onion,green chili,ginger into small pieces.

Step 4:

Grind soaked gram dal with fennel seeds and salt.(You have to grind here and there not like a paste)

Step 5:
To this add banana flower,onion,green chili,curry leaves and coriander leaves

Step 6:
Make this into form of vadas in a plastic cover or banana leaf.

Step 7:
Heat oil in a pan.When it is heat,fry the vadas well.

RAJMA / KIDNEY BEAN SUNDAL

Rajma /Kidney Bean sundal is one of the  evening snack. Good for health.
Ingredients Cooking Time : xx - xx Mins
Rajma /Kidney Bean – 1 cup
Water – as needed
Salt – to taste
To Temper
Oil – 1 teaspoon
Mustard and Urad dal – 1 teaspoon
Redchilli – 2
Curry leaves – 1 sprig
Shredded coconut – 2 teaspoon (optional)

Method
Step :1
Soak the kidneybean for 3 to 4 hours.Cook it in a pressure cooker for 2 to 3 whistles.Drain the excess water.

Step 2:

Heat oil in a pan add mustard and urad dal and when it started crackling add redchilli and hing.Add the cooked kidney bean and salt in it in a low flame for 5 minutes.
Finally add the curry leaves and shredded coconut in it and mix it well.

WHOLE GREEN GRAM VADA / SIRUPAYURU VADAI

How to Make to Green vada
Recipe Highlights
Healthy Evening snack
Ingredients Cooking Time : 10 Mins
Whole Greengram/ Sirupayuru – 1 cup
Greenchilli - 2
Ginger – a small piece
Onion - 1
Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
Curry leaves
Salt - to taste

Method
Step :1
Soak green gram for one hour and drain the water.
In the mixer,add whole green gram,greenchilli,ginger and make a coarse paste.

Step 2:

In the mixture,add chopped onion,cumin seeds,curry leaves and salt and mix it well.
Heat oil for frying.Then put the  vada’s and fry till both sides become golden brown.
Serve hot with your favorite chutney.

WHEAT FLOUR ONION PAKODA

Simple and tasty evening snack
Ingredients Cooking Time : 15 Mins
Wheat flour – 1 cup
Onion – 2 cups
Green chilli – 1
Grated Ginger – 1/2 teaspoon
Red chilli powder – 1/2 teaspoon 
Salt – to taste.
Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
Curry leaves – 3
Coriander leaves
Water – less than 1/4 cup

Method
Step :1
Take a mixing bowl and add wheat flour,salt,redchilli powder,green chilli,curry leaves,coriander leaves,onion,ginger and cumin seeds. Mix it well.
Sprinkle  very little water to make a smooth thick batter.

Step 2: 

Heat oil in a pan. Drop  small pieces of  batter into oil and deep fry it till they turn golden brown.
Serve hot.
