MAA VILAKKU INSTANT METHOD

Recipe Highlights
One of the traditional sweet for Karthigai Deepam.
Ingredients Cooking Time : 15 Mins
Rice flour – 1 cup
Jaggery – less than 3/4 cup
cardamom powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Coconut water – 2 tablespoon
Butter or ghee – 1 tablespoon
 

Method
Step :1
Take rice flour, powdered jaggery and cardamom powder in a bowl.Mix it well and leave it for a while so that jaggery leaves little water.

Step 2:

Then sprinkle little coconut water at a time and start rolling the flour like a ball.Press in center and put a hole in it (as shown in figure)and pour ghee on it and lit the lamp.

Recipe Highlights
One of the easiest snack for kids and traditional sweet for Karthigai Deepam.
Ingredients Cooking Time : 15 Mins
Raw rice – 1 cup
Jaggery – 3/4 cup
Baking soda – 1/2 teaspoon
Cardamom powder – a pinch
Grated coconut – 2 teaspoon
Ghee
 

Method
Step :1
Soak raw rice for 4 hours.Drain the water and grind it to a fine thick paste.(add little water)

Step 2:

Take a pan with jaggery and little water and once jaggery dissolves and the syrup slightly thick strain the syrup to remove impurities.
In the rice paste, add the baking soda,coconut and cardamom powder.Then add the jaggery syrup and mix it well. If it too water then add some rice flour.

Step 3:

Heat the paniyaram pan,add some ghee in each hole and pour the batter.
Wait for 2 to 3 minutes when cooked on one side,flip it to other side.
Cook until both sides are golden brown.

Nei appam is now ready to serve.
